Worldschooling Playa del Carmen offers an extensive activity program, specifically designed to create community. We offer a wide range of activities, for the whole family and per age group, to be able to gather a large and diverse community in which everybody can enjoy themselves while building connections with other Worldschool families.
The program is not designed for everybody to join all the activities. Participants can choose the activities that fit their family and are free to enjoy as many of the activities as they like. All activities are optional, however all participants are expected to join the opening, closing and the weekly feedback meetings.
Participation is key. By participating and connecting with the community often, you create an unforgettable experience for yourself and for other participants.
The activity program includes activities for all ages from 5 years and up. For children aged 5–7, please consider whether the program is a good fit for your child based on their level of independence and social comfort level.
There is a drop-off option available three days a week from 10:00-16:00, and one day from 10:00- approx.13:00 and during some evening activities.
When joining a 5-weeks session of Worldschooling Playa del Carmen, the activity program is included. The program offers morning, afternoon and evening activities from Monday to Friday, approximately 4 mornings, 4 afternoons and 3 evenings per week.
Once a week we organise a water day outside the complex, some of which come with a small entry fee that is not included in the program. Families can also join a weekly excursion day*, which can be booked separately.
Four mornings a week we will join conversational Spanish activities. These are fun and engaging activities organized by our facilitators, aimed at using the Spanish language in everyday situations. Depending on the group composition, we may split the group by age or level.
Four days a week we prepare our own meals. We get to know the diversity of the Mexican kitchen in a hands on way, through simple local dishes. Afterwards, everyone is welcome to join the group lunch and enjoy what we’ve prepared together.
Three afternoons a week we organise activities for the whole family. The activities are hands on, and reflect a mix of Mexican culture, Mayan culture, Mexican nature, arts, sports, and connecting activities. In the example schedule you can find examples of these activities.
Every week we organise a game night. The games are surprising and involve playful challenges. Sometimes the activity is for all ages, other times it’s organised in age groups. The tone is laid-back, but the challenges are real.
One evening a week we host a movie night for the kids. We choose a fun or engaging movie that suits the group, and watch it together as a shared moment. While watching, the kids enjoy fresh popcorn. It’s a simple, cozy way to wind down and connect.
Each week we prepare a local cocktail together, the kids make a virgin version, and the parents can add a little extra if they like. We use the opportunity to close the week and enjoy a relaxed evening together as a community.
Once a week we organise a water day outside the complex. We visit local beaches, a small local water park, and cenotes in and around Playa del Carmen. Some water days involve a small entry fee, usually between €5 and €15 per person.
Some locations are within Playa del Carmen and easily reached by taxi. Others are a bit further away and can be reached by public transport, taxi, or shared transport arranged through a local provider.
This is a family activity, and we expect a responsible parent to join.
Once a week, a full-day excursion is available for families who want to explore more of the region during their stay. It’s a shared experience with other families, offering a mix of nature, culture and local highlights, and a great way to discover more of what the area has to offer.
More details and prices can be found on the excursion page.
