Worldschooling Bansko offers an extensive activity pack, specifically designed to create community. We offer a wide range of activities, for the whole family and per age group, to be able to gather a large and diverse community in which everybody can enjoy themselves while building connections with other Worldschool families.

The program is not designed for everybody to join all the activities. Participants can choose the activities that fit their family and are free to enjoy as many or as little of the activities as they like. All activities are optional, however all participants are expected to join the opening, closing and the weekly feedback meetings.

Participation is key. By participating and connecting with the community often, you create an unforgettable experience for yourself and for other participants.

Please be aware that any foods and drinks (also during restaurant visits), as well as ski passes are not included in the program.

Adventure Pack

For families who want the full experience of Worldschooling Bansko, we offer an optional Adventure Pack for €40 per week. The Adventure Pack includes exciting and unique activities offered in partnership with trusted local providers. When added to the program, it creates a complete full-day schedule.

Activities

Skiing with friends

Three times a week we will meet up on the mountain for Skiing with Friends. We will ski/snowboard down the blue or red slopes together, depending on the group’s level. Being out on the mountain together makes it easy to connect. People wait for each other, share tips, and enjoy the runs as a group. We grow as a group and it’s beautiful to see our children grow too!

This is not a ski class. Participants are expected to ski or snowboard independently at blue level. This is a family activity, so a parent must join unless the child can participate fully independently and follow instructions well. All participants must carry a phone or have a parent present.

Ski pass not included.

For all ski details, go to the ski info page.

Swimming with friends

Once a week we’ll go swimming together as a group. All family members are welcome to join. It’s a fun and relaxed moment in the week where we play, splash, connect and enjoy the water together.

Indoor activities

Three afternoons a week we organise indoor activities for the whole family. The indoor activities are divided in age groups, and groups are sometimes combined. Each group has its own program with activities that fit their level and interests. The indoor activities are hands on and community based and offer a combination of creative, social and social activities.

You can find a realistic example of the activities in the example schedule on this page

During the age group activities, parents are not expected to be present in the kids groups.

Bulgarian nature

Most weeks we’ll spend one afternoon exploring the Bulgarian nature as a family, with activities like a mountain walk, sledging, a bonfire and more. These outdoor activities offer a fun and active experience for the whole family. It’s a chance to connect in a playful and relaxed setting.

Night out

Every week we have a fun evening, either with the whole family or just the parents. It’s always an enjoyable and social moment, with good food, nice conversations and a relaxed vibe. Sometimes we stay in the complex and have a special event there, other nights we go out. On parent nights, children are taken care of.

Food and drinks are not included.

Presentation

Each week ends with a short presentation, where the kids show what they’ve been working on. They prepare a little performance together, or share their story in a different way. It’s a simple, fun moment that rounds off the week and starts a nice evening together.

Popcorn hangout

Once a week we have a cosy evening just for the kids. They gather for games, movies or gaming time together and are served hot chocolate and popcorn to enjoy. It’s relaxed and fun and gives the parents space to enjoy their own evening activity.

Teen hangout

One evening a week is just for the teens. They decide together what they want to do, whether it’s gaming, watching a movie, playing board games or just hanging out. It’s their time to relax, connect and enjoy each other’s company.

Hot wine & chat

After the weekly presentations, the parents stay for a relaxed evening together. While the kids are taken care of, we enjoy a drink, have some good conversations and spend time together. Hot wine is served, and it’s a nice way to close the week together.

Things to be aware of:
– Activities are subject to change, due to weather, availability or group size.
– Locals do not have a service mentality. Demanding service is seen as rude and will have the opposite effect. Locals can come across as rude in their behavior and interaction, but when treated in a friendly way they often turn out to be the most kind and helpful people. Businesses are not always happy to serve groups.
– Agreements with locals are in general informal and are not always followed up. Even in the program, where we select our partners well, this is sometimes experienced.
– In Bansko we gather with a large international group, mostly indoors during winter. Illnesses can spread quickly and affect many, including staff. Please come prepared, take care of your family’s health, and help protect the community if symptoms arise. In case of staff illness, schedule changes may occur.

Transport:
– Transport to the center of Bansko and to the gondola is provided by the complex.
– Finding your own transport in Bansko can be difficult due to limited availability especially during peak times.
– Most families prefer to rent their own car, especially with low rates around €200–€300 per month. For smaller families, shared rental options with others are possible.
– We can request community transport to activities through a reliable local company. Booking is done via weekly sign-up. Costs are shared per van. Cancellations are not possible after sign up. We are not a party in the transport arrangement. In case of issues, please contact the transport company directly. Prices available.
