Activity program
Worldschooling Bansko offers an extensive activity schedule, from 10 am until 10 pm, 5 days a week. We offer a wide range of different activities to be able to serve a large and diverse community in which everybody can enjoy themselves. The program is not designed for everybody to join all the activities. Participants can choose the activities that fit their family and are free to enjoy as many or as little of the activities as they like. All the activities are optional, except the opening, the closing, and the feedback meetings, which we would like all participants to attend. We do ask participants to sign up for certain activities in advance on a weekly base and there might be activities that have an attendance limit.

Three times a week we will meet up on the mountain for Skiing with Friends. We will go down the blue or red slopes together, depending on the group’s level.
This is not a ski class. Skiers are expected to be able to go down the slopes independently.
This is a family activity. During family activities we require a parent to join the activity, unless the child is at a maturity level to do the activity completely independent without any guidance and listens to instructions well.
Ski pass is not included.
Bansko Street Dogs is an organisation that has been taking care of the street dogs in Bansko for a number of years now. They take dogs off the street, care for them and give them up for adoption. Also they provide care for the dogs still on the streets by feeding them, providing them with medical care and having them neutered. Worldschooling Bansko has volunteered for Bansko Street Dogs for 4 years now. We play with the dogs to help them socialise, brush them, walk them, and we can help with cleaning, making kennels, or whatever help Bansko Street dogs needs.
The dogs are all friendly, but they are still animals, and therefore we expect the parents to join the kids to this activity.
Bansko Street Dogs is located approx 2 km from the complex. We will go their walking. Transportation can also be arranged.

Once a week we will go swimming with the whole group. Everybody in the family is welcome. We will visit a nearby pool and just have fun in the water. Depending on the pool, there are also spa facilities for parents.
This is a family activity. During family activities we require a parent to join the activity, unless the child is at a maturity level to do the activity completely independent without any guidance and listens to instructions well.
Depending on the number of people signing up for this activity we might have to split the group in different time slots or in different days.

Three times a week we organise indoor activities for the whole family. The activities are in general done in age groups. Where you see a dotted line on the schedule, the activities are done with multiple age groups combined. During the indoor activities designed for kids groups, parents are not required to be present. Please discuss it in advance if a parents wants to be present during these activities.

One afternoon per week we will have outside activities in which we will either experience the Bulgarian nature or the Bulgarian culture with the whole family, through a wide range of activities.

In the weekly Dungeons and Dragons game, the children will dive into a fantasy world filled with adventure. The game lets the kids express all their creativity, as they take on the roles of characters in a world with magic, goblins, elves, dragons, and everything they can think of. Dungeons & Dragons is a definite favourite of Worldschooling Bansko, with all the kids excitedly going home to tell their parents about the adventures they had.
For different age groups we will have board game nights. We will bring out a board game for everybody to play, in smaller groups when needed.

The tweens will get together to play their favourite video games. They will all play together. Tweens who are not allowed on their devices are welcome at the board games night. Also older kids of the 6-9 group who prefer gaming over board games are welcome to join the tweens
Every week we will go out to eat with all the families. It’s a great connecting moment with lots of chats and laughs. We will visit a variety of restaurants, which have plenty of meal options for all.
Kids are expected to be accompanied a parent.
The cost are personal, but count on approx €10 – €15 per person.
Every week we will visit one of the hot springs nearby. Hot springs are outside mineral pools at different warm water temperatures. There are plenty of them in the area of Bansko, all in a different setting. The hot springs have dressing rooms, showers, and toilets available. Most have a restaurant as well.
Kids are expected to be accompanied by a parent.

During movie nights we will show movies that are fun and fit the age group. The kids will get hot chocolate and popcorn to enjoy during the movie.
The teens will spend their evening together doing whatever fun activity they decide on together. Gaming, watching a movie, playing board games, or just simply hang out.
While the kids are taken care of, the parents get a chance to enjoy the night with other parents.

Depending on the energy and the interests in the group we will find a nice activity that we can all enjoy.
Any food and drink expenses are personal and depend on the specific activity.
With everybody together for the weekly presentations, we use the opportunity to create an enjoyable night together with the parents. We will serve hot wine. Feel free to bring other drinks and snacks.
